Furlong ("we", "us", "our") operates the Furlong mobile application and the website at getfurlong.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and, optionally, your name and stable name.

Horse and stable data. Information you enter about your horses, training logs, health records, race history, billing records, ownership details, and team members. This is the core data you manage inside the app.

Usage data. We collect anonymous analytics about how you interact with the app — screens viewed, features used, and crash reports. This helps us improve the product.

Device information. Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility.

Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) via RevenueCat. We do not store your credit card number or payment method details on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the Furlong service
To generate reports, statements, and exports you request (vet reports, owner billing PDFs, CSV exports)
To power AI features (injury risk scoring, race entry advisor, peak form forecast) using your horse's data
To send you transactional emails (magic links, owner updates you generate)
To improve the app based on aggregated, anonymous usage patterns
To respond to support requests

3. AI Features and Your Data

Furlong's AI features analyse your horse's training, health, and race data to generate insights. This analysis is performed on your data only and is not shared with other users. We do not use your horse data to train general-purpose AI models.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information or horse data. We share data only in these limited circumstances:

Service providers. We use third-party services to operate Furlong (hosting, authentication, analytics, payment processing). These providers access data only as needed to perform their function and are bound by their own privacy policies.
Team members. Data you enter is visible to team members you invite to your stable, according to the role and permissions you assign.
Owner portal. If you share an owner portal link, the recipient can view the horse records and statements you have made available through that link.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

5. Third-Party Services

Furlong uses the following third-party services:

Supabase — authentication and database hosting
RevenueCat — subscription status and entitlement management
Apple App Store / Google Play Store — payment processing (all payment handling is done entirely by Apple and Google)
Anthropic — AI-powered insights (your data is sent to Anthropic's API for analysis; Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models)

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure, encrypted servers. We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and horse records within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain information.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data — use the CSV export feature to download all your records at any time
Correct your data — edit any record directly in the app
Delete your data — contact us to request full account deletion
Export your data — available through the app's settings

9. Children's Privacy

Furlong is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

10. California Residents

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, and opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact privacy@getfurlong.com.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the app or on our website with a revised effective date.
